Meredith
2022
mixed media sculpture

branches, fabric, woad, clay, mirrors, ~5' x 8'
exhibited at The Curious Tower, Nottingham

A collaboration with artist Harry Martin. Meredith is an egregore: a spirit entity given form by the collective thoughts of the community surrounding The Curious Tower garden in Nottingham. Meredith embodies the scrutiny that nature places upon our relationship with it. An idol, or β€œspirit vessel” was created in the garden for Meredith from tree branches and naturally dyed fabrics, and given a watchful face in the form of a clay mask with mirrored eyes. Meredith stands as a guardian of the natural world and holds us to account for our transgressions against it.
